Protein Pancakes From Scratch Recipe

These pancakes are dense in nutrients, low in fat and high in protein. You can use different flavours of whey protein powder to spice things up every now and then. For this blog, I am showing off my favorite: Strawberry! Try this recipe out in the morning for a scrumptious way to start your day.
When I wake up, eating whole and healthy meals is the first thing on my agenda. This way I do not crave for much and I am even more motivated to stay focused on being fit. It is very important to get enough protein, fat and carbohydrates in your system throughout the day. I have been in a real protein kick lately, and I'm loving the effects of it so far. I definitely suggest you get all the macronutrients in to maximize your body's potential. Don't forget, every meal is a choice to build a better, healthier body.
Hope you enjoy, and if you did try this out I would love to see photos! #SunnySideAsh on instagram or twitter and tag @ashpolicarpio. Hope to see from you guys!

Macros per serving: 2g Fat, 9.8g Carbs, 7.5g Protein (89 Cals for 1 Pancake)
Serving size: 1 of 6 pancakes
Prep time: 50 minutes
Ingredients
Pancake Batter:

  1. 1 whole egg
  2. 2 egg whites
  3. ½ cup of almond milk
  4.  ½ cup of dry oatmeal (I use Quaker Oats Oatmeal)
  5. 1 large banana (4-6 inches)
  6. 1 rounded scoop of Whey protein powder
Optional sweeteners to add into batter:

  1. 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  2. Splenda for sweetener
Suggested toppings:

  1. Cinnamon
  2. Honey
  3. Dry oats
Procedure
 1.    Blend all of the ingredients together until mixture is smooth and thick.
 2.    Heat a non-stick flat pan on top of medium heat.
 3.    Get a measuring cup, measuring spoon/rounded spoon or ladle to use as a pourer.
 4.    Scoop the batter using utensil of choice into the flat pan as you would any normal pancake mix. (Tip for perfectly rounded pancakes: Always pour from the middle of the mixture and let it build up naturally instead of making your own circle with the utensil.)

 5.    Wait about 1 minute.
 6.    With a pancake turner, go around the edges of the pancake gently to make sure the bottom side of the pancake is cooked. (Tip for perfectly rounded pancakes: If the edges of your pancake starts to stick to your pancake turner than your pancake is not ready to turn.)
 7.     Flip the pancake over gently. (Tip for perfectly rounded pancakes: Get more than half of the pancake over the pancake turner before you flip it so you do not mess up the pancake or get another flat-top utensil to aid in placing the pancake over your pancake turner.)
 8.    Wait about 30 seconds or so before getting the pancake out of the pan and into a plate.
 9.    Serve hot with a drizzle of honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon and oats.

 10. Enjoy!
